Dental Implant solutions & results

Dental implants are an excellent long term solution for replacing missing teeth. The actual implant is a small titanium screw is placed into the jawbone just below the gum line. Once it fuses to the bone, it becomes extremely stable and secure enabling an abutment and dental crown to be fitted on top. Together, the implant and crown form a new life-like tooth that both feels and looks really natural.

Implants are often used to replace individual missing teeth however, they can also be used to fill larger gaps where several teeth are missing. The benefits of implants is that they do not have to rely on adjacent teeth for support. They are independent giving them an advantage over alternative options, such as dental bridges, which are held in position by the neighbouring natural teeth.

Dental Implant FAQs

Your dental implant treatment will require several appointments. During your consultation your dentist will take detailed x-rays and explain your treatment options. The first step of treatment will be to place an implant screw into your jawbone. This will be done using a local anaesthetic. Over a period of time the bones in your jaw will fuse with the screw to create a solid foundation for your dental implant. Once this has occurred, your dentist will fit an abutment. This is the connector onto which your dental crown will be placed. Your dentist will then advise follow-up appointments to check and maintain your new tooth.

Each dental implant procedure is different so treatment timescales can vary. It usually takes between one and two hours to place each required screw into the jawbone. It will take between six and twelve weeks for a bond to form between the screw and bone that will be strong enough to support your new tooth. Your dentist will be able to advise you on cleaning the implant area, and may be able to offer a temporary tooth replacement to hide any unsightly gaps. Once your crowns have been placed, you will need to attend regular check up appointments.

Dental implants have a very high satisfaction rate but are not the right choice for everyone. If you are sensitive to copper, zinc, lead or nickel, are a heavy smoker or already have metal fillings, your dentist might suggest an alternative tooth replacement solution. Dental implants require oral surgery, which should only ever be performed by a qualified dentist.

Lower quality dental implant systems are sometimes made from cheaper materials, and can be more prone to damage and breakage. If you are considering going abroad for implant treatment, be aware that, although initial costs might look cheaper, standards for care and implant systems may be lower in other countries. It’s also worth remembering that your treatment will require several appointments with possible lengthy gaps between each one. It may be difficult to access the level of after-care you are used to in the UK.

Dental implants offer a strong and long-lasting solution to the problem of missing teeth. Prices for dental implants at our Wolverhampton dental practice start at £2,500. Please feel free to contact us 01902 341 991 for more details.

I can not thank you all enough

I’m a very nervous patient to the point I can pass out on the way to appointments. I’ve had 2 appointments here with Rakesh and I’m so greatful for the professionalism, the calming manner I have been shown, I cannot thank you all enough. I can now walk myself to the practice without passing out and am so grateful. Everyone at the company have been amazing with me. Very highly recommended.
