Dental inlays and onlays are generally recommended when a normal tooth filling is not sufficient enough to provide adequate protection. The tooth may not be damaged enough to warrant a new crown so treatment using an inlay or onlay is likely to be the most suitable option.

During your first inlay or onlay treatment your dentist will take impressions of your tooth. Your bespoke inlay or onlay will be carefully created to exact measurements in a dental laboratory. When it is ready your dentist will use a specialist adhesive to fix it into place. Your treatment will then be completed with a clean and polish.
Inlays and onlays offer a strong and aesthetically pleasing solution where teeth are overly damaged or decayed. There are different types of inlay and onlay available. The most common materials are porcelain or a composite resin, both can be colour matched to your natural smile.
