Gum Disease solutions & results

Most patients experience gum disease at some point in their lives. For the majority, gum disease can be completely avoided by maintaining good oral health habits. If teeth and gums are not regularly cared for, it can lead to tooth loss and other serious health conditions such as diabetes or heart disease.

Inflammation of the gums (Gingivitis) is usually the early signs of disease developing and if left untreated it can progress to Periodontitis. However, gum disease can be cured with early intervention and daily cleaning routines. Our dentists strongly recommend attending the Braces & Faces on a regular basis for both check-ups and appointments with the hygienist to keep your gums as healthy as possible.

Gum disease is caused by germs (bacteria) that live in your mouth. The bacteria stick to your teeth, irritate your gums and make them bleed. If gum disease is not treated, it can destroy the gum and bone supporting your teeth.

Some people get more severe gum disease than others. This might be because they have diabetes or smoke, but some people are just more likely to have gum disease than others.

We treat gum disease by cleaning your teeth and gums. This helps control the bacteria that cause gum disease. This can be known as periodontal treatment. It can help with:

Gum Disease FAQs

The main cause of gingivitis or gum disease is poor oral hygiene. Your mouth is full of natural bacteria, which produce acids. The more starchy or sugary foods you eat, the more acids are produced. The film these bacteria form is known as plaque. When plaque is allowed to sit around your gums, it can inflame them. Plaque that has hardened on your teeth is known as tartar, and can damage both your teeth and gums.

Although gum disease can be painful, it isn’t always the only detectable sign. This means it’s important to look out for other symptoms. These include bleeding gums, receding (thinning) gums or swollen gums. More advanced gum disease can also cause halitosis (bad breath), abscesses, and even loose teeth.

As well as treating gum disease, a good oral hygiene routine that includes daily brushing and regular visits to Braces & Faces Dental, can help prevent it from reoccurring. Your dental hygienist will be able to advise you on brushing and flossing techniques. Professional scaling and polishing will remove the damaging plaque and tartar that can cause gum disease.

Periodontitis is a serious complication that can occur if gum disease is left untreated. It can result in painful abscesses and severely receding gums. Without further intervention, periodontitis can also leave you with loose or even missing teeth. Regular dental check ups will allow your dentist to keep a close eye on your dental hygiene, and help prevent gum disease and periodontitis.

Regular visits to our oral hygiene experts will help keep your teeth strong and healthy. Our dental hygiene appointments in Wolverhampton cost from only £48.90. This includes a professional scale and polish to help prevent gum disease.

I can not thank you all enough

I’m a very nervous patient to the point I can pass out on the way to appointments. I’ve had 2 appointments here with Rakesh and I’m so greatful for the professionalism, the calming manner I have been shown, I cannot thank you all enough. I can now walk myself to the practice without passing out and am so grateful. Everyone at the company have been amazing with me. Very highly recommended.
